DCI Launches High-Level Training to Boost Security of Critical Infrastructure

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a high-level training programme aimed at specially strengthening the security and resilience of Kenya’s critical infrastructure amid the growing global and domestic threats.

The intensive course, conducted in partnership with the Office of Antiterrorism Assistance (ATA), brings together 24 elite officers drawn from the DCI and the General Service Unit (GSU).

The participants, who were selected for their tactical expertise and operational experience, will undergo rigorous training aimed at enhancing preparedness, intelligence-led operations, and rapid response to emerging security challenges.

Speaking during the launching of the programme, the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mr. Mohammed Amin, through the Director of Complaints, Mr. Bernard Nyakwakwa, emphasized on the importance of safeguarding vital installations that strengthen the economic and social stability of the country.

According to Mr. Amin, protecting critical infrastructure is a shared national responsibility and therefore, he called on the officers to approach the training with discipline, innovation, and unwavering professionalism.

“The results of your success will be reflected in every functioning power grid, every secure communication, and every safe journey undertaken by a Kenyan citizen,” he noted.

The training focuses on modern security strategies, intelligence analysis, risk assessment, crisis management, and counter-terrorism measures, equipping participants with the skills needed to anticipate, deter, and neutralize evolving threats.

It also seeks to strengthen inter-agency coordination and improve operational effectiveness in securing high-risk installations across the country.

Through international partnerships and knowledge exchange, the collaboration with ATA highlights Kenya’s commitment to strengthening its national security architecture.

According to the officials the programme will enhance the country’s capacity to respond to asymmetric and adaptive threats, including terrorism, cyber risks, and sabotage.

As the DCI continues to modernize its operations, the initiative marks a significant step toward reinforcing national resilience, safeguarding public safety, and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery across critical sectors vital to the development of Kenya as a country.
