Police Arrest Four, Recover Narcotics in Separate Nairobi Operations

Four suspects were apprehended in separate police operations in Nairobi, after officers recovered large quantities of narcotics believed to have been intended for distribution in the local drug market.

 Police officers from South B police station in Makadara Sub-County, Nairobi Region, on their first operation, and acting on credible intelligence from members of the public, carried out an operation along the Ngong River in the Kayaba slums. The officers were led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS).

During the raid, the officers targeted a shanty believed to be linked to drug trafficking activities in the area. A search of the structure led to the recovery of six kilograms of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa and twenty-nine rolls of a green substance, also suspected to be cannabis.

The law enforcers strongly believe that the substances were set to be distributed within the surrounding area.

Later the same day, officers from Kahawa West Police Station in Kasarani Sub-County arrested a suspect while on their normal routine patrol in the Kenyatta Market area, in a separate incident.

After a thorough search, on the suspect, the they recovered one hundred and fifty rolls of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, as well as three cookies believed to have been prepared using cannabis.

As a result of the two recoveries, a total of four suspects were arrested and placed in police custody as investigations continue. They are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

The National Police Service, in a statement released on X, has noted that these operations highlight the undying commitment of the law enforcement agencies to combat the circulation of illegal drugs and protect the community from the harmful effects of narcotics.

The authorities have also reiterated on the importance of cooperation between the members of the public and security agencies, noting that timely information from members of the public remains a key factor in addressing crime and enhancing community safety.
