The deceased, identified as William Ojwang’ was attacked and murdered while attending a meeting with his group members in Kochola village.

Based on the police and local administrators’ narration, those behind the heinous act stormed the meeting and fatally assaulted Ojwang’ using pangas and other crude weapons before fleeing from the scene.

According to preliminary investigations, the brutal killing might have been prompted by an earlier incident involving three children believed to be related to one of the suspects. The children were allegedly assaulted on Tuesday last week while heading back home from a funeral night vigil in Kachwaya Sub-Location.

Richard Omollo, the area chief, says that Ojwang was accused by the suspects of being responsible for the alleged attack on the children and that they had been hunting him down in the days leading up to his killing.

According to the authorities, the suspects received the information that Ojwang’ would be attending the meeting in Kochola village on the day of the incident, making it easier for them to track him down.

Shortly after the attack, the police were alerted and swiftly responded to the scene only to find that the suspects had already fled. Ojwang’ was pronounced dead on the spot.

His body has been transferred to the Ndhiwa Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for preservation while awaiting for postmortem examinations to determine the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified patrols in the area as investigations continue, the police say they are pursuing possible leads to help identify and arrest all those involved in the attack.

Authorities have appealed to the members of the public to remain calm and urged anyone with any information that could be of help in the investigations to report to the nearest police station. The law enforcement officials have also assured the public that efforts to bring the suspects to justice are still underway and that calm in the area will be restored.
