DCI detectives arrest a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) imposter in Kilimani

Detectives from Parklands have arrested a man who has been masquerading as a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) brigadier and brainwashing helpless youths through a fraudulent recruitment scheme.

The suspect, identified as Joshua Mutui Muimi, was apprehended at his rented apartment in Kilimani, in Nairobi, where he had allegedly been operating an elaborate con game targeting desperate job seekers.

According to police, Muimi promised his victims guaranteed admission to the Recruit Training School ( RTS) in Eldoret in exchange for cash.

Upon raiding the premises, investigators found the suspect fully dressed in Kenya Air Force uniform attire he is believed to have used to bolster his false authority. Officers also seized multiple documents emblazoned with the Ministry of Defence signatures.

Other recovered items were six fake admission letters, all bearing the same serial number, seven fingerprint forms, and a Yilmaz Defence Industry ammunition manufacturing manual, alongside other suspicious materials.

Detectives say the evidence points to a well-coordinated scam meant to deceive victims into believing they were undergoing a legitimate recruitment process.

“We urge Kenyans to remain alert and avoid falling for shortcuts that promise what is otherwise a free and transparent process. ,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Muimi is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned once investigations are finalized.

Authorities have called on any individual who may have fallen prey to the scheme to come forward and assist with ongoing inquiries.
