Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria

Through a post on his socials, Mosiria reiterated that the County Government will be taking decisive action against the facilities that he says, presents health risks to the people.

He urged Nairobi residents in the recycling business to instead find alternative locations away from dwelling areas.

“Hatukatai watu kufanya kazi, lakini mbona ufunge njia na kuwaumiza majirani? Please, just do the right thing so nobody will bother you. Do it from the right place away from residential areas if it’s harmful,” Mosiria appealed.

“We shall be acting against illegal recycling facilities in residential areas that have become health hazards to the people of Nairobi. Ensure that your facilities are environmentally compliant,” he warned.

Mosiria persuaded owners whose businesses emit smoke, noise, foul smell, or any form of pollution, relocate to designated industrial zones.

He also affirmed that Governor Sakaja’s administration will continue to maintain a clean, safe and healthy Nairobi, by escalating war on pollution and illegal dumping.

“This city is for all of us, and we must protect the well-being and peace of our residents,” Mosiria said.

“If your business emits smoke, noise, foul smell, or any form of pollution, relocate to designated industrial zones. Let us work together to create a clean, safe, and healthy Nairobi for everyone.”
