President William Ruto

Speaking on Wednesday, President Ruto expressed his worries that despite Kenya’s big potential, there is no sufficient progress put in place to achieve economic transformation.

According to Ruto, the country must first embrace discipline, unity and collective effort in order to achieve economic transformation.

He also revealed holding discussions with the former President Uhuru Kenyatta and the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga to explore ways of steering Kenya towards sustainable growth.

“Let me persuade you that we can build our economy”, said the president “I did sit down with the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta and we agreed that it’s time to move Kenya from mediocrity. It disturbs me that Kenya is a great country but we are not moving”, he added

The President’s remarks appeared to highlight the need of setting aside political differences and working together in order to strengthen the country’s key sectors in a bid to combat unemployment, slow economic growth, corruption, public debt and other challenges facing the country.

While his government administration’s commitment is to implement economic reforms aimed at empowering ordinary citizens through Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), President Ruto affirmed that unity among Kenyan political leaders and inclusive governance are the ultimate keys to unlocking Kenya’s full potential.

The Head of State’s appeal achoes a bigger call for a national dialogue among the past and present leadership to cooperate in rallying the nation behind a common goal.
