Senator Cherargei criticizes Kalonzo Musyoka for skipping Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kitui County

Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei has branded Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka a “coward of the century” after the latter skipped the Mashujaa Day fete held in his home county.

In a post shared on his X account, Cherargei hit out at Kalonzo for being unpatriotic to the country, even as Kitui residents filled Ithookwe stadium in large numbers for the national celebrations.

“Kalonzo is a coward of the century; by skipping the mashujaa day national celebrations that was unpatriotic to the country yet all Ukambani are attending in mammoth crowds,” Cherargei said.

He alleged that the Wiper leader had travelled to the United Kingdom to create an excuse for missing the celebrations, only to return for Raila’s funeral.

“Kalonzo had run away to united kingdom(UK) to hide but came back because of Jakom funeral. He must have confused the event because this is a national celebration not a political rally,” the Nandi Senator stated.

“He pretends to be a nationalist and patriotic but he cannot honour a national holiday to celebrate our national heroes.”

Cherargei however lauded Kitui locals for the massive turnout and successfully hosting this year’s Mashujaa Day.

“Thank you kitui residents and ukambani nation for warm and heroic reception to President Ruto and guests and hosting this national event to celebrate our national heroes,” he said.

Mashujaa Day 2025 was held at the newly constructed Ithookwe stadium in Kitui County, presided over by President William Ruto and attended by Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Mozambique’s Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levy.
