Government disburses Ksh2.4 billion to beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii programme

The Ministry of Labour has disbursed Ksh2.4 billion to beneficiaries enrolled in the Inua Jamii programme, covering the month of September.

Principal Secretary State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, Joseph Motari, announced that the payment will benefit 1,212,670 Kenyans, including those aged above 70, persons living with disabilities, vulnerable children and orphans.

He added that the payments began on October 6, 2025 with each beneficiary set to receive Ksh2,000.

“The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, through the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, has released Kshs. 2,425,340,000 for payments to 1,212,670 beneficiaries enrolled in the Inua Jamii programme”, he announced in a statement.

He added “Payment commenced on 6th October, 2025, with each beneficiary set to receive Kshs. 2,000 covering the September 2025 cycle”.

PS Motari asserted that the programme aims to eradicate poverty while uplifting the elderly and the vulnerable members of the society.

“It aims to alleviate poverty and promote the well-being of society’s most vulnerable members, including older persons aged 70 and above, and persons living with severe disability”, he noted.

Government released June and July payment in August, covering two months of arrears for beneficiaries. A total of Ksh4.6 billion was disbursed to over 1.1 million vulnerable Kenyans, with each receiving Ksh 4,000.
