Quickmart Supermarket, through its management, has issued a statement downplaying reports circulating that there are concealed bodies in their outlet at Nairobi’s OTC.

The supermarket urged its customers to shun the speculations being shared on social media platforms, claiming that individuals were injured and some killed inside the OTC branch.

However, they acknowledged that their branches in OTC and Ruiru were affected during the June 25th anniversary protests held on Wednesday.

“Contrary to misleading information circulating on digital platforms, we wish to assure the public that no staff, customers, or any other individuals were injured or deceased at the two outlets. The safety and security of our employees, customers, and the wider community remain our top priorities,” the statement read in part.

“While we recognize that the recent events have posed a significant challenge for these outlets, we want to emphasize that Quickmart is deeply committed to restoring normalcy as swiftly as possible.”

In the meantime, they advised customers to shop and access services at other outlets as the management works to restore stability in the two branches.

The statement follows Wednesday’s Gen Z demonstrations, which escalated into violence, destruction, and looting of property across the city of Nairobi.
