ODM leadership led by its chairperson governor Gladys Wanga, has rebutted Wiper Party
leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s statement that the agreement between Ruto and Raila was a
betrayal to the people of Kenya.
Speaking during the International Women’s day celebrations in Homabay County on March 8,
governor Wanga dismissed Kalonzo’s claims saying that Raila -Ruto pact was based wholly on
the interests of Kenyans.
She added that the agreement between the former arch rivals would foster unity in the
country.
“Yesterday, Raila gave us the lead and told us to enter into the broad-based government and support
President Ruto’s administration, and this was not for selfish reasons but for the unity of Kenyans,”
Wanga clarified.
“We immensely support Raila Odinga and President Ruto’s efforts to unite the country so that all
citizens can benefit. I have seen those saying, this is betrayal; how can unity be betrayal?” She posed.
After the joint signing of the agreement to work together at KICC by Raila Odinga and President William
Ruto, Kalonzo Musyoka alongside DAP-K party leader Eugine Wamalwa came out gun blazing rubbishing
the new alliance.
Kalonzo while speaking at the People’s Dialogue Festival at Uhuru Park on Friday, said that Raila had
betrayed the Kenyans who hit the streets in 2023 and 2024 to protest against high cost of living and bad
governance
“If there is no formula at KICC today showing how Kenyans are going to compensate their families and
the loss of lives because of police brutality, then nothing will come out of KICC other than betrayal of the
Kenyan people,” said Kalonzo.
“What has come out of KICC today is the biggest betrayal of Kenyans. The People’s Loyal Coalition will
never betray Kenyans for temporary comfort,” Kalonzo also posted on X vowing to remain on the
people’s side.
DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa echoed Musyoka statement saying, “We chose to stand on the side of the
Gen Zs, the people of Kenya, and we in the opposition today want to say that we have chosen
deliberately and with clear minds where we stand from today.”
He added that history will judge Raila Odinga and the entire ODM fraternity for leaving Kenyans and
proceeding to dine with the oppressor.
