Wanted Robbery Suspect Arrested in Garissa After Weeks on the Run.

A 21-year-old man wanted in connection with two robbery with violence cases has been arrested in Garissa after allegedly evading justice by failing to appear in court.

The suspect, identified as Hamza Abdi Dagane, was apprehended by detectives in the Bulla Medina area of Garissa Township following an intelligence-led operation.

His arrest brings to an end weeks of pursuit after he reportedly failed to show up for court proceedings, which led to the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives tracked down Dagane after receiving credible intelligence on his whereabouts.

He had been wanted by the Garissa Law Courts after absconding a scheduled court session on June 29, 2026, where he was expected to answer to robbery with violence charges.

Authorities said the suspect is facing two separate robbery with violence cases before the Garissa Law Courts. Following his arrest, he was placed in police custody and is expected to be arraigned in court on Thursday, July 9, to face the charges.

The DCI reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that suspects who attempt to evade the criminal justice system are brought before the courts. The agency noted that intelligence-led operations remain a key part of its efforts to track down fugitives and enforce court orders.

“Individuals who seek to evade the criminal justice system will continue to be pursued, arrested and presented before the courts to answer for their alleged offences,” the DCI said in a statement.

The arrest highlights the continued collaboration between investigative officers and intelligence units in tracing suspects who fail to comply with court processes.

Police have also urged members of the public to continue sharing information that may assist law enforcement agencies in locating wanted suspects and strengthening efforts to combat violent crime.

Dagane is expected to remain in custody pending his appearance before the Garissa Law Courts.
