Officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have arrested two individuals suspected to be operating a suspected narcotics trafficking network in Ruaka, Kiambu County.

The operation was conducted on Sunday March 15, 2026, in collaboration with officers from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU).
The DCI said that the officers heard that the suspects were planning a narcotics exchange in Syokimau, Machakos County. However, the meeting was later aborted and redirected to Ruaka.
“However, upon arrival, it was established that the planned meeting had been aborted. Based on real-time information from covert sources, the operation was redirected to Ruaka, Kiambu County,” DCI said.
On conducting a search at a house within Mbuti Apartment, Ruaka, the security officers recovered several exhibits including pellets and packages of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
Other items recovered include digital weighing scales, mobile phones, foreign passports, and cash in both Kenyan and Nigerian currencies.
During the operation, ANU officers arrested two suspects. They have been identified as Okeke Ikechukwu, a Nigerian national and Alex Opondo, a Kenyan national.
The suspects were later escorted to Ruaraka and Pangani Police Stations for processing as investigations continue to trace additional suspects and dismantle the wider trafficking network.
The duo is expected to be arraigned in court on March 16.
Authorities indicated that the recovered exhibits have been secured and will undergo forensic analysis.
