Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a stern warning to truck drivers who will illegally park along the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway during the safari rally event this weekend, cautioning that they face arrest.

In a traffic advisory issued on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, KeNHA warned drivers against parking at any undesignated locations on the highway, stating that violators will face arrest.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) hereby issues a traffic advisory and alternative routes to ease anticipated traffic congestion caused by the public heading to the Safari Rally event from 12th to 15th March, 2026,” the notice read in part.
“The Authority advises all truck drivers not to park at any undesignated locations on the highway, as violation of this directive shall lead to immediate arrest,” the authority added.
KeNHA however provided alternative routes to ease traffic congestion caused by the public heading to the anticipated Safari Rally event from 12th to 15th March, 2026.
Four alternative routes were provided for motorists travelling from Nairobi to Lanet to help avoid traffic snarl-ups. For the Scenic route, motorists can use Nairobi – Rironi – Flyover (Magumu) – Njambini – Ol Kalou – Dundori – Lanet.
For motorists opting for adventure routes, Kenya National Highways Authority has recommended Nairobi – Rironi – Naivasha – Engineer – Olkalou – Dundori – Lanet.
KeNHA also proposed the Thika trail route; Nairobi – Thika – Magumu – Ol Kalou – Dundori – Lanet, and Nairobi – Ngong – Suswa – Narok – Nakuru as a shortcut route.
