Several people are feared trapped after a partially demolished building collapsed in the Blue Estate area of Shauri Moyo, in Nairobi.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the trapped individuals were collecting scrap metal in the demolished building when the incident occurred.
Kenya Red Cross has since confirmed the incident, stating that the building was adjacent to structures that were being demolished on riparian land, and that efforts are underway to rescue those trapped in the rubble.
“A building has collapsed in the Blue Estate area of Shauri Moyo, adjacent to structures that were being demolished on riparian land. An unconfirmed number of people are feared trapped in the rubble. Rescue efforts are underway,” a statement from the Kenya Red Cross read.
