Mandera East Member of Parliament Hussein Weytan, has strongly condemned a grenade attack that occured at a hotel in Mandera town, leaving three individuals with serious injuries.

Hon. Weytan, in a statement shared on his social media platforms, denounced the Saturday night explosion, terming it as a tragedy that has shaken the community.
While offering his heartfelt sympathies, Weytan confirmed that the injured are receiving treatment at the Mandera County Teaching and Referral Hospital.
“Am deeply saddened to learn of the explosion that occurred at Kona B Hotel in Mandera town on Saturday night, which left three individuals seriously injured. This tragic incident has affected our community deeply, and my heartfelt sympathies go out to all those impacted,” Weytan’s statement read in part.
“At this difficult time, my thoughts and prayers are with the injured, who are receiving care at the Mandera County Teaching and Referral Hospital. I wish them a full and speedy recovery, and I commend the medical team for their tireless efforts,” the statement continued.
He also assured the families hurt by the attack that the community would remain united in support and stand with them during this difficult time.
The Mandera East lawmaker further called on the police to expedite probe into the cause of the explosion and “ensure the safety and security of all Mandera residents.”
He urged the locals to remain strong and stand together, and not let the tough times break their unity.
“Let us come together in unity and compassion as we support one another through this moment of hardship. Mandera is strong, and together, we will overcome,” he said.
According to a police report, the incident happened at around 6:40 pm at Jakkey Hotel in Kona B area. The hotel is often visited by non-locals.
