Motorists Warned of Partial Closure on Emali-Isineti Road

Motorists using the Emali-Isineti (A5) Road have been advised to prepare for temporary traffic disruption after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced the partial closure of a section of the highway near Simba Cement to facilitate the installation of a drainage structure.

In a public notice issued on July 17, KeNHA said the affected section will be partially closed from Friday, July 24, to Thursday, August 13, 2026, to allow for the construction of a culvert across the carriageway at an existing natural channel.

According to the authority, traffic will be diverted through a temporary 100-metre diversion constructed alongside the work area. Vehicles will use the diversion on an alternating single-lane basis to ensure traffic continues flowing safely during the construction period.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of the Emali–Isineti (A5) Road, in the vicinity of Simba Cement, will be partially closed to traffic from Friday, 24th July to Thursday, 13th August to facilitate the installation of a drainage structure (culvert) across the carriageway at an existing natural channel,” the notice states.

KeNHA further assured road users that measures have been put in place to minimise disruptions, noting that the temporary diversion has been designed to safely accommodate traffic while construction is underway.

“During the closure period, traffic will be routed through a temporary diversion, approximately 100 metres in length, constructed alongside the closed section. Traffic will flow on an alternating (single lane) basis,” the authority said.

The highways agency urged all motorists to remain vigilant while approaching the construction site and to strictly follow traffic management measures.

“Motorists are, therefore, advised to exercise caution, adhere to traffic signs, and cooperate with the police officers and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA said.

The authority apologised for any inconvenience that may arise during the works, saying the project is aimed at improving drainage infrastructure and enhancing the long-term safety and resilience of the Emali–Isineti highway.
