Thousands of 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates can now plan their next academic step after the government released Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) placement results, opening the door to admission into universities, colleges and technical institutions.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba announced that KUCCPS has completed the 2026/2027 placement cycle, with a total of 293,869 students placed into various higher education and training programmes.
Ogamba said the placement exercise reflects the continued growth of the centralized placement system, which began in 2014.
He noted that during its first placement cycle in June 2014, KUCCPS placed 72,338 students to universities and colleges, compared to the current placement of nearly 294,000 students.
“Since 2014 when we began centralized placement under the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, there has been significant growth and advancement in the placement sphere,” CS Ogamba said.
The Education CS said the government remains committed to expanding access to quality and relevant education and training, pointing to increased investment in the sector.
He cited the allocation of KSh 784.5 billion to education in the current financial year as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to transforming the sector.
“No other administration has invested as heavily in our children’s education. The latest affirmation of this is the historic allocation of Ksh. 784.5 billion to the education sector. This is the highest allocation to any sector this Financial Year,” Ogamba said.
A total of 980,535 students who sat the 2025 KCSE examinations applied for placement to their preferred programmes and institutions.
Of those, 268,729 candidates attained a mean grade of C+ and above, qualifying for admission into degree programmes. The remaining candidates were eligible for placement in programmes offered by national polytechnics, technical and vocational colleges, the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), teacher training colleges, Kenya Utalii College and other tertiary institutions.
The students placed will join degree, diploma, craft certificate and artisan certificate programmes across universities, colleges and technical institutions.
Students can now access their KUCCPS accounts to confirm their placement details, including the institutions they have been admitted to and the programmes they will undertake.
The release of the placement results marks the next step in the transition of the 2025 KCSE cohort into institutions of higher learning and skills training.
