Four people have been rescued and taken to hospital after a boat they were travelling in capsized at Kwa Bruno Channel near the LAPSSET area in Lamu County.

The unfortunate incident was confirmed by the Kenya Red Cross on May 21, which further stated that search efforts are ongoing for four individuals who are still missing.
“Search and rescue efforts are ongoing following a boat capsize incident at Kwa Bruno Channel near the LAPSSET area in Lamu County,” Kenya Red Cross announced on X.
“Four people have been rescued and taken to hospital, while search efforts continue for four missing persons,” it added.
According to the humanitarian organization, the search mission has brought together Kenya Red Cross aqua divers, Beach Management Unit and community fishing boats.
Officials have not yet disclosed the cause of the capsize, but investigations are expected once search operations conclude.
Emergency teams have urged calm among residents and assured them that operations will continue until all missing persons are located.
