Three more suspects linked to the armed robbery at a popular restaurant along General Mathenge Road in Nairobi’s Spring Valley area have been arrested following a police operation in Githurai, Kiambu County.

The arrests took place during an intelligence-led operation conducted by officers in Githurai Mwiki, where the suspects allegedly attempted to escape before they were subdued and taken into custody.
Police said a subsequent search at a house in Githurai Kimbo associated with the suspects led to the recovery of two firearms, each loaded with ammunition.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), preliminary investigations have connected the suspects to the recent robbery that was captured on CCTV footage and widely circulated on social media.
The footage showed armed men storming a popular restaurant on General Mathenge Road, robbing patrons of valuables before fleeing the scene on motorcycles.
“The suspects attempted to flee but were successfully apprehended. A subsequent search at a residence in Githurai Kimbo associated with the suspects led to the recovery of two firearms, each loaded with ammunition,” the NPS said in a statement.
The latest arrests bring further progress in the investigation into the high-profile robbery, which sparked public concern over rising incidents of armed crime in Nairobi.
Detectives have been pursuing those believed to have participated in the attack, with investigations focusing on dismantling the syndicate behind the operation.
Police said Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) officers processed the recovery scene, while all firearms, ammunition and other exhibits recovered during the operation have been secured for forensic examination to establish their possible use in other criminal activities.
The three suspects remain in police custody as investigators finalize their inquiries before presenting them in court.
Reaffirming its commitment to combating violent crime, the National Police Service said it will continue pursuing criminal gangs operating within Nairobi and its neighbouring counties.
