Detectives from Kasarani Police Station have recovered 200 assorted mobile phones during an intelligence-led operation in Viken Thirty Village, in a major breakthrough against a suspected phone theft syndicate.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the operation was launched after detectives received credible intelligence, leading them to an abandoned iron-sheet structure believed to have been used as a storage site.
Upon searching the premises, officers recovered 200 mobile phones, including 120 intact handsets and 80 that had already been dismantled.
“Detectives from the Kasarani Police Station have recovered 200 assorted mobile phones following a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation in Viken Thirty Village,” DCI said.
“Acting upon a credible tip-off, the detectives swiftly cordoned off an abandoned iron sheet store. Inside, they unearthed the cache of mobile phones, comprising 120 units still intact and 80 that had been dismantled.”
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) detectives processed the scene and collected evidence to support ongoing investigations.
The recovered devices have since been taken to the National Police Service Forensic Laboratory (NPFSL), where officers from the Cybercrime and Digital Forensics Unit will carry out forensic examinations aimed at identifying the phones and tracing their rightful owners.
The agency said investigations are ongoing to establish the origin of the devices and dismantle the criminal network behind the suspected phone theft operation.
Detectives are pursuing intelligence leads to identify and arrest suspects believed to be linked to the syndicate.
