The Ministry of Defence has announced a vacancy for the position of Chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Military Veterans, inviting qualified candidates to apply for the role ahead of the expiry of the current office holder’s term.

In a public notice issued pursuant to the Military Veterans Act, the ministry said the vacancy will take effect from August 4, 2026.
The ministry said eligible applicants must be retired general officers of the Armed Forces or the Kenya Defence Forces and must meet the integrity requirements set out under Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
Applicants are required to submit written applications within 21 days from the date of the notice. The application should include full personal identification details, career particulars, and a statement outlining the reasons and motivation for seeking the position.
All applications are to be addressed to the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Defence.
The Advisory Committee on Military Veterans plays a key role in advising the government on matters affecting military veterans, including their welfare and the implementation of policies under the Military Veterans Act.
The committee also plays a key role in safeguarding the welfare of military veterans by advising on healthcare, housing, education, rehabilitation, compensation and other support programmes aimed at improving their livelihoods after leaving active service.
