Three More Suspects Arrested Over Disruption of All Saints Cathedral Meeting

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three more suspects linked to the violent disruption of a meeting at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the DCI said officers from Kilimani, working jointly with detectives from the Nairobi Regional Office, arrested George Omondi Otieno, Effenburg Wanyama Khisa, and Melvin Alumasa Bwani following intelligence-led operations and forensic investigations.

According to investigators, the suspects were apprehended at different locations within Nairobi as part of ongoing efforts to identify and bring to justice those involved in the incident.

During the operation, detectives recovered a red Boxer motorcycle, registration number KMFH 161S, which is believed to have been used in the commission of the offence. Mobile phones recovered from the suspects were also seized and secured for forensic analysis to support the investigations.

The DCI said preliminary findings indicate that the attack involved more individuals than those currently in custody.

“Investigations have revealed that the attack was not the work of the three suspects alone. Detectives are actively pursuing more leads to establish the full extent of the criminal enterprise and identify and arrest all persons involved,” the agency said.

The three suspects join two others who were arrested earlier in connection with the incident and are currently undergoing processing pending their arraignment in court.

The disruption occurred during a meeting at All Saints Cathedral, where participants had gathered for a public forum. The incident sparked widespread condemnation from religious leaders, civil society groups, and political figures.

The DCI reiterated its commitment to ensuring accountability for those behind the attack, emphasizing that places of worship must remain safe spaces for worship, reflection, and lawful gatherings.

“Places of worship are sanctuaries of peace and reflection, and any individual who seeks to violate their sanctity, threaten public safety, or disrupt lawful gatherings will face the full force of the law,” the agency stated.

Police have appealed to members of the public with information that could assist in identifying and apprehending other suspects to report to the nearest police station or anonymously through the DCI’s Fichua Kwa DCI platform.
