The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued an update following the successful transition to the eLogbook system, outlining key guidelines for vehicle owners and warning the public against fraud.

The Authority said it will not convert already printed paper logbooks into electronic versions, noting that eLogbooks will only be generated upon completion of the official motor vehicle registration process.
“The Authority shall not convert already printed paper logbooks to eLogbook,” NTSA stated.
According to NTSA, the digital logbooks will only be accessible through a user’s personal account on the NTSA Service Portal after application, payment, and completion of registration procedures.
“eLogbooks will only be generated upon application, payment and completion of motor vehicle registration related processes,” the Authority added.
NTSA further clarified that only registered vehicle owners will be able to download their eLogbooks, which will be accessible exclusively through the official service portal.
The Authority encouraged members of the public to verify the authenticity of eLogbooks using the NTSA Services mobile app or the official service portal, both of which are provided free of charge.
“An owner or a buyer can verify the authenticity of an eLogbook through the free NTSA Services mobile app or the NTSA Service Portal,” NTSA noted.
At the same time, NTSA warned Kenyans against sharing personal or vehicle details with third parties, social media pages, or individuals claiming to offer assistance with the eLogbook process.
“NTSA will never request your personal details via social media, WhatsApp, SMS, or any unofficial channels to send you an eLogbook,” the Authority warned.
It also emphasized that its officers are not authorized to download logbooks on behalf of clients, adding that no agents are permitted to offer NTSA services.
Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious pages or individuals requesting sensitive information, as the Authority moves to curb fraud linked to vehicle registration services.
