Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i has strongly condemned the attack on Wycliffe Siocha, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Ichuni Ward in Kisii County.

In a statement posted on X platform on Friday June 5, Matiang’i termed the attack “cowardly and unfortunate” and called for immediate action by investigative and security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible.
The Jubilee DPL also described the incident as an assault on both democratic values and constitutional freedoms that hold the country together.
“I strongly condemn the cowardly and unfortunate attack on Hon. Wycliffe Siocha, the Member of County Assembly for Ichuni Ward in Kisii County. This act of violence is not only an attack on an elected leader but also an assault on the democratic values and constitutional freedom that bind us together as a nation,” Matiang’i wrote on X.
The former Interior CS reiterated that violence have no place in a democratic society, noting that all leaders, regardless of their political affiliations, deserve to serve the public without fear of threats or physical harm.
“Political differences must always be resolved through dialogue, debate, and the democratic process, not through violence,” Matiang’i emphasized.
He further called on relevant authorities to launch comprehensive investigations into the incident and ensure those behind the attack are held accountable.
As the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections, Matiang’i appealed to leaders and the public to reject political intolerance and embrace peace and the rule of law.
