A joint security operation in the Digdiga general area has led to the dismantling of a suspected Al-Shabaab camp at Qanjara Durow, authorities have said.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), the coordinated operation began when personnel established a presence near Gel Qad Junction before advancing toward Qanjara Durow, where they encountered suspected militants and engaged in a firefight.
“During the operation, security personnel established a presence near Gel Qad Junction before advancing towards Qanjara Durow, where they encountered suspected militants and engaged in a fierce exchange of fire,” NPS said in a statement. Adding, “They overpowered the Al-Shabaab militants and secured the area.”
The service also noted that the team further dismantled the camp after neutralising more militants who were present.
A search of the camp recovered assorted materials believed to be linked to militant activity, including communication equipment, improvised explosive device (IED) materials, uniforms, ammunition, food supplies, and other logistical items.
The materials have been secured for forensic examination as investigations continue.
The National Police Service said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to degrade extremist networks and enhance security in affected regions.
