Four members of former Chief Justice David Maraga’s campaign team were involved in a grisly road accident on Tuesday night while traveling back to Nairobi.

In a communique shared on social media platforms, United Green Movement (UGM) Party presidential aspirant and CJ Emeritus David Maraga, announced that the four had accompanied him to Nyamira, and were driving back to Nairobi when the incident occured.
According to Maraga, a rescue team responded swiftly to the scene, and rushed the victims to hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
“We have been informed of a ghastly road accident that has occurred, involving four of our campaign team members. They have all been rushed to hospital,” Maraga wrote on X platform.
“The four are part of a team that was driving from Nyamira back to Nairobi having accompanied the United Green Movement (UGM) Party Presidential Aspirant, CJ (Emeritus) Maraga,” he added.
Reports indicate that a lorry veered off the road, lost control and hit the car the four were driving in.
Maraga further urged Kenyans to “keep them in prayer as the Doctors and nurses attend to them” as they continue to follow the situation closely.
Images from the accident scene show extensive damage to the vehicle, including deflated tyres and shattered glass. However, former Chief Justice David Maraga was not in the car at the time of the incident.
This comes as National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), in collaboration with the National Police Service (NPS), intensifies road safety enforcement across the country in a bid to curb the rising number of accidents during the festive season.
