The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to vote today Monday on a US-drafted resolution strengthening Donald Trump’s on plan creating peace in Gaza.

This comes after the deployment of an international force, as Washington warns on chances of starting a new fight upon failure to failure to act.

The revised draft comes as a result of high-stakes negotiations, “endorses” the plan, which allowed for a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to take hold the war-wracked Palestinian territory.

The Gaza Strip has been largely reduced to rubble after two years of fighting, sparked by Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

The US drafted resolution focus on creation of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) that would work with Israel and Egypt and newly trained Palestinian police to help secure border areas and demilitarize the Gaza Strip.

It also drafts a permanent decommissioning of weapons from non-state armed groups to protecting civilians and securing humanitarian aid corridors.

Additionally, the draft will enable authorization and the formation of a “Board of Peace,” a transitional governing body for Gaza which Trump would theoretically chair with a mandate.

According to the draft , in the case of Palestinian Authority carrying out requested reforms and the rebuilding of Gaza is underway, the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood.

“Our opposition to a Palestinian state on any territory has not changed,” said Netanyahu during a cabinet meeting.

The UN Security Council is set to vote at 5:00 pm (2200 GMT) Monday hoping at largely reducing the Gaza Strip war and restoring the wreckage after two years of fighting, sparked by Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
