Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on Kenyans to focus on addressing the challenges facing the country rather than focusing on ethnic differences.

He noted that the problems affecting Kenyans are defined by the shared struggles of ordinary people across the country and not by ethnicity.

“Kenyan citizens must know that there is no problem known by tribe”, said Uhuru. “Problems are known through people’s suffering”. He added.

According to Uhuru, issues of inadequate hospitals, gaps in education, poor roads and unreliable electricity are not restricted to any specific region or community.

Speaking in Murang’a County on Friday during a meeting with Jubilee Party grassroots leaders, the former head of state urged the Kenyans to understand that challenges are widespread and therefore, they must be addressed collectively.

He pointed out that equality and unity should continue to guide national leadership, asserting that for progress to be achieved, all Kenyans should work together regardless of their tribes or political affiliation.

Uhuru Kenyatta’s remarks come at a time when the nation continues to drown in economic challenges, political divisions and regional disparities.

He also warned Jubilee Party members who insult other leaders under the pretense of defending the party, saying they would be expelled from the party.
