The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested two individuals accused of impersonating EACC officers and extorting money from members of the public.

EACC confirmed the arrest on Monday, March 30, 2026, after an individual reported on March 29, 2026, that the two had tried to defraud him.
“The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested two individuals for impersonating Commission officers and extorting money from members of the public. The suspects, Annastacia Mueni Kavemba and Stephen Muleu Ngati, were apprehended following a complaint lodged on March 29, 2026,” the Commission stated.
According to the complaint, one of the suspect, identified as Annastacia Mueni Kavemba, contacted the victim, while pretending to be an EACC officer.
Ms. Mueni is said to have told the victim that he was under investigation, and demanded undisclosed amount of money to influence the outcome of the case and prevent further action.
EACC further stated that its officers launched an operation that led to the arrest of the suspects immediately after receiving a bribe of Kes20,000.
“The suspects are currently at the EACC Headquarters at Integrity Centre for statement recording and further processing,” EACC said.
Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and to report any incidents of bribery and extortion immediately.
