Police officers from Sinanga police post in Marengo sub-location in Siaya County, have nabbed two suspects found in possession of cannabis sativa and suspected of involvement in drug trafficking.

In a statement issued by the National Police Service (NPS) on Monday November 17, the male suspects aged 28 and 25, were arrested at the scene and escorted to Yala Police Station.
The arrest follows an intensified fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse in the area. NPS asserted that the operation was conducted in Ahono Village, Marenyo Sub-Location.
According to NPS, the officers, acting on a reliable information, together with their counterparts from the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), raided a homestead within the village and recovered three sacks of cannabis sativa, each containing 80 brooms.
“We are committed to safeguarding communities by enforcing laws against dangerous drugs and curbing the criminal networks involved in their distribution. Operations targeting narcotics will continue across the county,” said National Police Service.
While maintaining their commitment to safeguarding communities against dangerous narcotics, NPS urged members of the public are to support the ongoing efforts, by reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police stations .
