“Please, do not spam my WhatsApp DM with advice,” Nelson Havi tells critics after joining DCP

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has slammed critics questioning his decision to join Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

In a statement posted on X platform, the Senior Counsel told Kenyans to refrain from giving him advices regarding his move. “Please, do not spam my WhatsApp dm with advice or dissatisfaction with my choice to join DCP,” Havi said.

He questioned the timing of the criticism, asking why the critics were silent four months ago when he ditched the UDA party. “Where have you been for the last 4 months since I resigned from UDA, to advise on what I should have done or not done?”

Havi urged those holding divergent views to put them to the test at the ballot during the 2027 General Election. “Weka picha yako na jina lako kwa ballot if you think you are more knowledgeable on the matter.”

DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday February 4, 2026, announced that Nelson Havi has joined the DCP and will vie for the Westlands parliamentary seat on the party’s ticket.

Gachagua said that DCP party requires great legal minds for Legislation, Representation and Oversight. He added that Havi’s entry is expected to strengthen the party’s legal capacity in Parliament and beyond.

“I am happy to welcome Nelson Havi, one of the greatest legal minds in the country to walk with us in his quest to represent the people of Westlands constituency in the National Assembly,” Rigathi wrote on his socials.

“DCP is the home of progressive professionals who desire political leadership,” Gachagua added.

Nelson Havi unsuccessfully contested for the Westlands parliamentary seat in 2022 on a UDA ticket. He lost to ODM’s Tim Wanyonyi.
