Nominated Member of Parliament Hon. Denar Joseph Hamisi has passed away at the age of 56, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula has confirmed.

Through an official statement, Speaker Moses Wetangula announced that the late Hon. Denar Amisi, died on Saturday December 6, 2025, at about 7:00am.
He was nominated to the National Assembly following the 2022 General Elections under the Amani National Congress (ANC) Party.
Until his demise, the late Denar served in the National Assembly as a member of the Departmental Committee on Sports & Culture and the select committee on National Cohesion & Equal Opportunities.
“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify the House and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of Nominated Member, the late Hon. Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP who passed on today, Saturday, 6th December 2025 at about 7:00am,” Wetangula announced.
Hon. Denar was born in 1969 in Kinango and attended Mombasa Baptist High School between 1984 and 1989 where he sat for his Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) and Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) Examinations.
He later pursued further studies at various institutions including United States International University (USIU) for Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (2000) and Masters in International Business Administration (MIBA) (2002); and the University of Nairobi for a Bachelor of Laws Degree (2006).
Before joining parliament, the late Denar held various positions both in the private and public sectors. In the public service, he served as Director, Coast Development Authority from 2007 to 2010; Commissioner, Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) (2007-2008).
He also served as Director, Kenya Airports Authority (2009-2012); Director, Kenya National Accreditation Services (2011-2012); Council Member, the University of Nairobi Council (2013-2018); and Council Member, Moi University Council (2021-2022).
As burial preparations commence, Speaker Moses Wetangula has appointed a team of lawmakers led by Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Owen Baya, to liaise with the family and coordinate a befitting send-off for the late Hon Denar.
