NACADA, Police Seize Ksh1 Million Worth of Bhang in Molo, Nakuru County

A joint security operation carried out by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) and the National Police Service (NPS) has resulted in the seizure of bhang valued at about Ksh1 million in Molo Town, Nakuru County.

The operation, carried out on the night of March 2, 2026, targeted a suspected drug trafficker believed to be transporting a large consignment of cannabis.

Acting on intelligence from members of the public, officers tracked a white Toyota Probox said to be linked to the suspect in the Munju area.

An attempt by the officers to stop the vehicle made the driver to make a sudden U-turn and speed off, prompting a short chase.

During the pursuit, the suspect threw three large sacks out of the moving vehicle before vanishing into the darkness.

The abandoned sacks were later recovered and taken to Molo Police Station. A preliminary check revealed that sacks contained about 200 brooms of dry plant material suspected to be cannabis.

According to authorities each broom has a street value of around Ksh500, bringing the total estimated value of the drugs to approximately Ksh1 million.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work day and night to dismantle the wider supply network behind the illegal trade.

Following the operation, Dr. Antony Omerikwa, the NACADA Chief Executive Officer applauded members of the public for providing crucial information that led to the seizure.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to the members of the public who continue to play their rightful role in pointing out criminals within our communities,” said Dr. Omerikwa.

“This operation in Molo is a testament to the fact that the information provided by citizens is leading to successful operations and making our neighborhoods safer.”

He reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to sustain crackdowns on drug trafficking across the country.

“These enforcement efforts are ongoing and relentless. We are committed to ensuring that our communities remain safe from the harmful effects of narcotics and psychotropic substances. We will not relent in going after those who seek to profit from the destruction of our youth,” he added.
