Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, is in the United States of America for bilateral talks aimed at deepening ties between Kenya and the USA.
Mudavadi’s visit was announced through a communiqué from the Director of Press Service in the Office of the PCS, Jacob Ng’etich, who said the visit followed an invitation from the US government and marks the first top-level meeting between the two governments since the elevation of Donald Trump as President.
PCS Musalia Mudavadi, who arrived in Washington on Tuesday, is expected to hold talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday, with discussions set to focus on bolstering partnerships in areas including security, trade, and investment.
“On Trade and Investment, H.E. Mudavadi will push for the expansion of economic ties, including the renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), and attracting US investments to Kenya,” the statement read in part.
The PCS will also hold talks with Hon. Brian Mast, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, meet officials from the International Development Finance Corporation (IDFC), and participate in a business roundtable with US investors at the US Chamber of Commerce.
Mudavadi’s visit to Washington follows the historic State Visit by H.E. President William Ruto in May 2024, the first State Visit by an African leader to the US in 16 years.
During Ruto’s USA visit in 2024, Kenya secured KSh600 billion worth of grants, equipment, and projects, with the funds expected to improve the country’s education, security, and transport sectors.
