Former President Ruto’s Senior Economic Advisor and Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria, has hit out at DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, for claiming that he was hired by the government to sway the Mbeere North parliamentary by-election.

In a post shared on his social media accounts, Kuria dismissed the accusations, questioning Gachagua whether he believed his votes were stolen or he (Kuria) took them.
“My brother Rigathi Gachagua. Make up your mind. Is it me who took your votes or were your votes stolen?” Kuria posed.
Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua during a Television interview on Wednesday December 10, 2025, alleged that Moses Kuria colluded with President Ruto to influence the by-election in Mbeere North.
Gachagua alleged that Kuria is still part of Ruto’s administration despite having resigned months ago. He added that Moses Kuria is acting as President Ruto’s political spy in the Mt. Kenya region, planted to mislead and deceive the local leadership and the electorate.
On why he had dropped Duncan Mbui in favour for DP Party’s Newton Karish, Gachagua noted that it took the intervention of Mbeere elders who explained that both candidates came from the same clan.
Mbui later defected to Moses Kuria’s CCK Party and was granted a ticket to vie for the parliamentary seat.
“The elders told me, given the clan dynamics, it won’t be good if we have the two candidates. They asked me to drop my candidate, and it made a lot of sense because I understand the Mbeere people. So, I withdrew the candidate,” Gachagua stated.
“Meanwhile, the government approached Moses Kuria, who is part of the Ruto administration. His party, Chama cha Kazi, is one of the many “wheelbarrows” I have spoken about. William Ruto has numerous such “wheelbarrows” in the mountain region,” he further claimed.
In a tightly contested Mbeere North by-election, UDA’s Leo Wamuthende clinched victory after securing 15,802 votes. He was followed closely by DP’s Newton Karish with 15,308 votes while CCK’s Duncan Mbui came third with 2,480 votes.
Kuria announced that CCK Party would join the Karish petition as an interested party, urging Gachagua to use the courtroom to substantiate his claims.
“Chama Cha Kazi will enjoin in the Karish petition as an interested party so you can answer me in court. But you will only introduce DCP dictatorship in Mt Kenya region over my dead body,” Kuria said.
