The Motorists Association of Kenya (MAK) has warned travelers along the Narok–Mai Mahiu road to exercise extreme caution, citing a criminal gang using dangerous tactics to target and rob unsuspecting motorists.

In a public notice on Tuesday March 31, 2026, the association said the criminal gang target travelers between Ntulele and Ewuor Ekule near the area known as Pirnyiny.
“Attention to the Travellers! If you are planning to travel along the Narok–Mai Mahiu road, particularly between Ntulele and Ewuor Ekule near the area known as Pirnyiny, please exercise extreme caution,” the notice read.
According to MAK, the gang has adopted a dangerous method of placing stones on climbing lanes to force vehicles to stop, after which they launch attacks on the motorists.
“Reports indicate the presence of a criminal syndicate using dangerous tactics, including placing stones on climbing lanes to force vehicles to stop and create opportunities for robbery,” it added.
The association reported that one man was killed after trying to remove the roadblocks, when he was attacked by a group armed with machetes and other sharp weapons.
Travelers have been urged to avoid this route at night and remain vigilant at all times, or if possible, travel in groups or coordinate with local authorities for safer passage.
