Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the re-opening of Mai Mahiu-Suswa-Narok (B7) Road following days of closure due to flooding.
In a Public Notice released on Thursday, March 12, 2026, KeNHA stated that the road was closed after floodwaters and silt accumulated at Kedong Ranch near Suswa following heavy rains on Friday, March 6.
The earlier closure of the road had affected the flow of traffic along one of the busiest corridors that connect Rift Valley and the Western region.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is pleased to inform the public that the Mai Mahiu – Suswa – Narok (B7) Road is now open to traffic. This follows the closure of the road section on 7th March, 2026, due to flooding and deposition of silt at Kedong Ranch near Suswa,” stated KeNHA.
KeNHA advised motorists to be careful when driving through the sections of the road as the rains continue.
“The Authority, however, appeals to motorists to exercise caution when driving through the sections of this road as the rains continue, particularly between Naivasha ICD (Km 14) and Suswa Ranch (Km 39),” KeNHA advised, further reiterating its commitment to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate smooth passage of goods and services.
KeNHA announced the closure on March 7, advising motorists to use alternative routes like the Narok-Mau Narok-Nakuru (B18) road or the Ngong-Suswa road, as the emergency and response teams cleared silt deposits and debris.
