Speaking during a press conference after conducting the autopsy exercise, Oduor stated that the late lawyer Kyalo was shot eight times, with the shooting appearing to be intentional and carried out at close range.

He also said that pathologists recovered two bullets from the victim’s body and handed them over to the investigative officers. The bullets will help in identifying the type of firearm used to commit the crime and possibly the perpetrator.

“We were able to recover two bullets, which have been given to the investigative officer for ballistic purposes. There was a lot of bleeding and injury to the neck and spine,” he said.

“The gunshots caused severe bleeding from neck vessels and spinal injury, while the chest cavity remained intact. Gunpowder burns on the skin indicate the shots were fired at close range,” he added.

Following Kyalo’s killing, authorities have issued updates regarding the progress of the ongoing probe.

On Thursday 11, September, 2025, Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Kipchumba Murkomen asserted that persons of interest have been arrested and others are being sought in connection to the heinous act. He assured the legal fraternity and the country at large that the DCI was acting swiftly to ensure that justice is served.

“We have been in touch with the DCI since this thing happened, and I am happy to note that there is some progress. Some persons of interest have been identified,” Murkomen revealed.

“Those persons of interest are being interrogated, and so many others are going to be sought. We thank the eyewitnesses who have already come out who were at the scene and many others who are giving information to the DCI,” he added.

On Tuesday 9, September, advocate Kyalo Mbobu was fatally shot, along Magadi road, by unknown assailants riding on a motorbike.
