Police officers in Kwale County have seized 1,858 rolls of cannabis sativa, and arrested one suspect during a crackdown targeting illegal narcotics.

The National Police Service (NPS) said the unidentified suspect was arrested at the scene during a recent intelligence-led operation in Msambweni Sub-County.
It is reported that security officers from Diani Police Station conducted a raid in Mwakipeku Village, Kinondo Ward, where they recovered 1,858 rolls of cannabis sativa.
The suspect was later taken into police custody for further processing and arraignment in court, while the recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits.
The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb the circulation of illicit drugs in the region and strengthen community safety. NPS further noted that investigations are underway to to identify other individuals involved in the illegal trade.
“Police officers in Kwale County have intensified operations targeting the possession and distribution of narcotic drugs as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard communities from the dangers of substance abuse,” NPS said.
“This operation underscores the National Police Service’s continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse, which remain a threat to public safety and community wellbeing,” NPS added.
