The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) has refuted allegations that some of its officers were involved in the disappearance of a portion of methamphetamine seized from a dhow intercepted along the coast carrying 1024 kilograms of the illegal drug.

In a statement released by the KDF on Tuesday clarified that the entire 1024 kilograms of methamphetamine offloaded ashore on the 25th of October 2025, remains intact and is under a continuous “round-the-clock” protection by a dedicated multi-agency security team.
“We wish to clarify that the entire 1,024 kilograms of methamphetamine offloaded ashore remains intact and is under continuous, round-the-clock protection by a dedicated multi-agency security team,” KDF said in a statement.
The communique comes following claims circulating on the social media that some KDF personnel involved in the mission stole and concealed a part of the narcotics for their own personal gain.
KDF revealed that a multi-agency security team comprising of military officers and other security agencies successfully intercepted a dhow off the coast, alleged to be linked to a major international drug trafficking syndicate. The haul was later transferred to the shore where it was securely stored.
The millitary also confirmed that probe has been launched into the alleged theft and assured the members of the public that disciplinary and legal measures will be taken in accordance with the law.
“The suspected KDF personnel are currently under investigation by the relevant authorities. Should the allegations be substantiated, appropriate disciplinary and legal measures will be taken in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
This comes days after a ferry believed to have been transporting drugs in the country was intercepted by anti-narcotics officers in Mombasa. Six foreign nationals were arrested on board the ship during that incident and are were arraigned at the Shanzu Law Courts in Mombasa.
