Indian missile frigate Naval Ship, INS Trinkand, has docked at the Port of Mombasa in a four-day operational deployment aimed at strengthening maritime ties with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

In a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kenya, the warship which arrived in Kenya on April 7, will stay up to April 10, 2026, engaging in professional exchanges and interactions with the Kenya Navy, as part of enhancing maritime collaboration with African nations.
“Indian Naval Ship Trikand is on port call at Mombasa Port, Kenya for an Operational Turnaround (OTR) from 07-10 Apr 2026. INS Trikand is a frontline guided-missile frigate of the Indian Navy and is currently on an operational deployment to strengthen maritime ties with African nations, aligning with India’s MAHASAGAR vision,” stated Indian Embassy.
The Embassy further confirmed that the Naval Ship will undergo Passage Exercise with a Kenya Navy Ship, to asses operational readiness and strengthen tactical drills between Indian and Kenyan forces in open waters.
“During the port call, the crew will engage in professional exchanges and interactions, reinforcing shared values of security, stability, and collaboration at sea. The ship will also undergo Passage Exercise with a Kenya Navy Ship on completion of her port call,” the Embassy highlighted.
“The visit underscores India’s commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation, enhancing interoperability, and fostering strong ties with partners in the Western Indian Ocean Region.”
