Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has assured the public that the recruitment of police constables expected to commence soon, will be conducted in a free and transparent manner.

In a statement released on Wednesday 1st October 2025, after a briefing session for this year’s recruitment of police constables, held at the National Police College in Embakasi, IG Kanja reiterated the service’s commitment to carrying out a credible exercise.
Kanja urged officers who will be deployed to oversee the process, to uphold utmost integrity by avoiding corrupt practices.
He stated that this move would help the National Police Service regain public trust, which had been eroded by past malpractices during similar recruitment exercises.
Speaking at the same event, National Police Service Commission (NPSC) Chairperson Dr. Amani Yuda Kumora, reaffirmed the commission’s support in ensuring a transparent, accountable and merit based selection.
“As the Commission prepares for the recruitment of 10,000 police constables scheduled for 3rd to 9th October, 2025, joint recruitment panels convened today at the Administration Police College, Embakasi ‘A’ Campus, for a comprehensive briefing. Commission Chairperson Dr. Amani Komora highlighted the importance of transparency and fairness throughout the exercise. He noted that the joint approach and staggering of the recruitment exercise is designed to ensure efficiency and credibility,” NPSC statement read.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, has consistently maintained that the recruitment exercise will be transparent and free of flaws.
Kanja was flanked by the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat; the Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Mr. Gilbert Masengeli; the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Mr. Mohamed Amin; NPSC commissioners, among other senior officers.
