The government through the Ministry of Interior and National Administration has deployed over 1,000 police officers to Naivasha to handle security and manage traffic during Safari Rally championship from March 12 to March 15.

In a communique on Thursday, 12 March 2026, the Ministry asserted that the officers, drawn from various agencies, will be tasked with maintaining security, managing crowds, and supporting traffic control operations.
“More than 1,000 police officers drawn from various formations will be deployed across rally routes, spectator zones and key access roads to maintain security, manage crowds and support traffic control operations,” the ministry said in part.
“Motorists and members of the public are advised that temporary traffic management measures and road diversions will be implemented along designated rally routes and surrounding access corridors during the competition period.”
The Ministry also announced that it has set up a multi-agency team comprising of several government institutions including the National Police Service (NPS), National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
The institutions will work closely with the Nakuru County authorities and the rally organizers to facilitate smooth operation throughout the event period.
Rally drivers, teams, spectators and residents are also assured of safety and security throughout the competition period.
Motorists and members of the public have been advised that temporary traffic management measures and road diversions will be implemented along designated rally routes and adjacent corridors.
Meanwhile, travellers with no business in Naivasha are advised to take alternative routes to avoid congestion on the Nairobi-Naivasha Highway.
The approved alternative routes include the Nairobi-Limuru-Flyover-Njabini-Ol Ndondori-Lanet-Nakuru route and the Nairobi-Mai Mahiu-Narok-Nakuru-Western Kenya corridor.
“In light of the prevailing heavy rainfall in several areas, motorists are further advised to exercise caution and remain alert to possible localised flooding,’’ the Ministry of Interior cautioned, advising spectators attending the rally to observe the competition only from designated spectator zones, follow safety instructions issued by security officers and event marshals.
