Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has maintained his stance on calling out leaders whom he claims are being used to divide the Mt. Kenya region.

According to Gachagua, President Ruto is on a mission to split the votes-rich region in a bid to keep hold of power.
Addressing a rally on Sunday October 12, 2025, in Ndia Constituency, Kirinyaga County, the former Deputy President vowed to thwart the alleged attempt to fuel divisions in the Mountain, by mentioning leaders involved in it.
“Let us agree on what I will do. Wherever I go in Mount Kenya, I will be calling out the traitors by name so that people know them. Whether you are a man or a woman. We will tell our people who the traitors are so that the president does not finish this community,” Gachagua said.
He claimed that Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru was under instructions to form a party as part of efforts to scatter votes ahead of 2027 general elections.
The former DP warned female leaders associated with Ruto’s splinter plans not to expect sympathy, adding that they will be dealt with firmly.
Earlier on Saturday, Moses Kuria had urged him to desist from hurling insults at leaders especially women, setting it as a condition for any potential collaboration between them.
“I know Waiguru has been told to form a party. That is a wheelbarrow. If you see that party, know it is a wheelbarrow,” the former DP rallied.
“Our women leaders, those of you betraying our community, we will deal with you as traitors. There is no distinction between men and women. A traitor is a traitor.”
While calling for unity in Mt Kenya, Gachagua accused President Ruto of bringing together his Kalenjin community and secretly dividing people from the Mountain.
“Ruto is hatching a plan against us. He has called his people from the Tugen, Marakwet, and Kipsigis to unite. But here at our home. He is sending Kindiki and other leaders to sow divisions among us,” he said.
“He knows that for him to remain in power, he has to divide the voters of Mt Kenya, but we are not fools; we have decided to put our votes in one basket. Let us not accept being divided by him and his people.”
