Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended three notorious robbery with violence suspects, and recover a firearm.

In a coordinated operation, the detectives together with law enforcement officers from the Ngong Police Station and Mwea-Makutano Police Post, dealt a decisive blow to a dangerous criminal network in Kirinyaga County.
Acting on credible intelligence, the team tracked the suspects to the Makutano-Ngomongo area in Kirinyaga County, where they were reportedly in hiding.
In a swift and premeditated manoeuvre, the officers successfully apprehended the three suspects, identified as Alex Wanjiku alias Aleko, Job Wachira Wanjohi and Francis Kinyanjui Wanjiku alias Kinyaa.
The trio is suspected to be responsible for a violent robbery in Ngong on 12th March 2025, which left an unidentified victim seriously injured from a gunshot.
“Upon arrest, Francis Kinyanjui Wanjiku alias Kinyaa was found in possession of a Glock 17 pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition, further cementing the suspects’ link to the violent crime,” DCI said.
“The operation further led to the recovery of a red motorcycle, registration number KMGD 970K (TVS make), which investigators believe was used as a getaway vehicle during the commission of the crime,” DCI added.
Additionally, the officers recovered clothing believed to have been worn by the suspects on the day of the robbery, providing crucial evidentiary support to the ongoing investigations.
The suspects are currently being held in custody at Ngong Police Station as investigations intensify, with authorities working to establish whether they are linked to other criminal activities in the region.
