Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has raised the alarm after his personal bodyguard identified as Oliver, and his wife were arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino

In a social media post on Tuesday February 24, 2026, the Embakasi lawmaker says he received information that Oliver and his wife were allegedly assaulted by officers attached to the DCI.

He added that he has not been told why the two were arrested or what they are being charged with.

“I have received deeply troubling news that my security officer, Oliver, and his wife were arrested today and reportedly assaulted by rogue officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI),” Babu wrote on his socials. He added, “as of now, the charges against them remain unknown.”

Babu Owino further demanded answers from the authorities, reiterating that no Kenyan should be subjected to unlawful detention. He also called for the rule of law to be respected, insisting on transparency and due process under the Constitution of Kenya.

“No Kenyan should be subjected to intimidation, unlawful arrest, or violence by those entrusted to uphold the law,” he said.

“We demand immediate transparency regarding the reasons for their arrest, confirmation of their safety, and that due process be followed in accordance with the Constitution of Kenya,” he added.

On the afternoon of February 17, 2026, Babu’s brother-in-law, Geofrey Adjiki, who is part of his security detail, was also arrested by six DCI officers.

According to Babu, Adjiki called to inform him of the arrest, saying he was being driven to the Nairobi Area Police Headquarters. However, he never arrived, and his whereabouts remained unknown for days.

Adjiki eventually resurfaced days later after reportedly being dropped off in Machakos in the early hours of Friday at around 4 a.m.

In a separate development on February 21, Babu Owino revealed that some of his security officers were arrested and detained at Kisumu Central Police Station, ahead of their Linda Mwananchi rally in Kakamega County.

He has since accused Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo of orchestrating the arrests, which he says targets people close to him.
