Mombasa United’s head coach, Hamadi Said, is calling for his players to maintain their momentum after an impressive 1-0 away victory against Migori Youth in their latest National Super League (NSL) outing.
As they gear up for Monday’s match against Muhoroni Youth at Serani in Mombasa, Said has urged his squad to build on this newfound confidence.
The difference-maker in the crucial win was playmaker Answar Shamuni, whose solitary goal secured Mombasa United’s first away victory of the season.
The victory followed a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Kisumu All Stars two weeks ago, which gave the team vital points and boosted their morale.
Sitting 15th in the NSL standings, with a record of five wins, four draws, and eight losses in the 2024-2025 campaign, Mombasa United are determined to climb higher in the table.
Despite their current position, Said remains optimistic and is eager to keep the positive momentum going as they prepare for the tough challenge of facing Muhoroni Youth, who currently sit second in the standings.
"We must keep pushing forward. Our fans have shown incredible support, and I know they expect us to continue improving. We’re focused on delivering another victory," Said commented ahead of the Muhoroni clash.
Said also praised the club's young talents, who played a crucial role in their recent successes.
The youth players were instrumental in their solid performance against Kisumu All Stars, and it was their grit and determination that earned them the vital three points in Migori.
"It wasn’t easy, but the team’s resilience paid off.
The young players showed a lot of character and helped us secure a well-deserved win," Said added.
With the mid-season transfer window behind them, Mombasa United are planning a few strategic signings to bolster the squad.
Although reports suggest several players have left, Said confirmed the club plans to sign no more than four new players.
"We have a strong team, and we’re not looking to make wholesale changes. We’ll only add a few key players to strengthen the squad," he explained.
Supported by the Shahbal Foundation, Mombasa United has faced a challenging start to the season, but they are now fully focused on turning things around and showing their fans the best version of their team.
With Said at the helm, the club’s ambitions remain high, and the upcoming matches are crucial to their goal of climbing up the table.
