The Eastern Regional Police Command has launched a two-day Capacity Building and Financial Management Programme aimed at equipping police officers with practical financial skills to enhance personal welfare, leadership, and service delivery.
The programme was officially launched on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, by Eastern Regional Police Commander Stephen Chebet, AIG, at the Embu Regional Training Centre. It brings together 40 participants drawn from both civilian and uniformed staff within the region.
The initiative is being conducted in partnership with financial literacy facilitators from Mwalimu Biashara, led by Kennon Mbae. The training is designed to strengthen officers’ personal financial management skills, promote financial discipline, and support their overall wellness and professional growth.
Speaking during the launch, Chebet emphasized the importance of sound financial management in building effective leadership and improving service delivery.
He noted that financial discipline remains a key pillar of professional excellence and urged participants to actively engage throughout the training and put the knowledge gained into practice.
The programme covers key areas of personal finance, including budgeting, saving, debt management, financial planning, and responsible use of financial resources.
Organisers say the training is intended to help officers make informed financial decisions, reduce financial-related stress, and improve their overall quality of life.
Officials believe that empowering officers with financial literacy will not only strengthen their personal well-being but also contribute to a more focused, motivated, and productive workforce capable of delivering quality policing services to the public.
The launch ceremony was attended by Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander Amos Ambasa, CP, Staff Officer for Logistics Gladys Rutere, CP, as well as other senior officers and instructors from the Embu Regional Training Centre.
The National Police Service has continued to invest in capacity-building initiatives as part of broader efforts to improve professionalism and employee welfare.
The Embu programme reflects the service’s commitment to developing officers beyond operational policing by equipping them with essential life skills that promote financial stability, personal growth, and effective leadership.
