A 37-year-old man is in police custody after law enforcement officers in Busia County recovered narcotic drugs during a targeted operation in the town’s Central Business District (CBD).

Acting on a tip-off, police officers moved swiftly and intercepted the suspect at Busia’s main bus stage.
A search of his backpack led to the recovery of three packages wrapped in yellow cello tape containing cannabis sativa, as well as 26 sachets of an unidentified powdery substance now undergoing forensic analysis.
Confirming the arrest, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the operation was intelligence-led and part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
“Acting on a tip-off, officers intercepted the suspect at Busia’s main bus stage. A search of his backpack led to the recovery of suspected narcotics,” DCI said.
The suspect, identified as Ouma Dibogo Obobo, a resident of Migori County, was taken to Busia Police Station together with the recovered exhibits as investigations continue.
