Alliance High School Reports Fire Incident, Parents Asked to Pick Up Students

Alliance High School is on the verge of indefinite closure following a fire incident that broke out at the school’s mattress store on Thursday morning.

According to media reports, the principal of the school confirmed that a mattress store was set on fire on Wednesday night, although no student was injured in the incident.

In a message to parents, the principal called for an urgent meeting at the school, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Reports of the fire first emerged on Wednesday night, with videos widely circulating on social media showing the blaze.

Initial accounts suggested that the fire had broken out in one of the student dormitories, but later reports clarified that it occurred in a mattress store for students who had already completed school.

Firefighting teams responded promptly to the scene and managed to contain the blaze, stopping it from spreading to other parts of the school.

Investigations are expected to be initiated by the relevant authorities to establish the cause of the fire, with preliminary probes focusing on how the early morning inferno started.

A wave of school closures has been witnessed in recent days following cases of student unrest and suspected arson, with institutions including Loreto High School Limuru, Lenana School, and Moi Forces Academy shutting down indefinitely.

This comes against the backdrop of a tragic dormitory fire at Utumishi Girls High School in Gilgil, Nakuru County, which left 16 students dead and more than 70 others injured.
